Hi VBS Volunteers!! 

VBS is HERE! I am blown away at your response to serve with us at VBS this year and I am looking forward to serving with you that week! There are a few things I want to communicate before we head into the week! If you have found this page and want to know your placement, please check your email.

Prayer Gathering

Sunday evening, June 7, we will have a time of prayer in the 6pm service. We will hand out cards with names of those serving that night and do a prayer walk all around campus so that we can cover this VBS week in PRAYER. Prayer is the WORK! Come join us for this special time.

Tshirts/ Hats

If you have ordered a t-shirt or hat, they will be available for pick up Sunday Morning (June 7) and at registration. There are a limited number of extras. They will be first come first served. We will not be reserving extra shirts due to the volume we have ordered.

Theme Nights/ Menu

Nursery Age Kids

Childcare check in will begin at 6:00pm. Please go ahead and feed all kids, including those staying in the nursery before checking them in at 6:00pm.

Procedures

• Please, please, please stay in the area you are assigned. All leaders screened with a clear background check will have a yellow lanyard name tag to wear so security knows who is serving. There will also be someone available to help find somewhere to plug into a needed area.
• Snack supper is provided to each of our volunteers and kids participating. Kids will arrive around 5:30 p.m. to begin eating. We ask for all hands on deck to help round up kids. There will be some who will be dropped off without a parent to watch them.  
• Rows will be labeled with crew numbers. Each row will have a roll sheet every night. Please fill this out as you receive kids. We will take those after opening rally. Some nights you will have something with it to pass out to the kids, but please wait for instructions for what to do before passing them out. 
• Parking for volunteers is at the house and in the front parking lot this year. Please do not park in the back if you are a volunteer.
• If for some reason you must leave before release or before release time is completely over, PLEASE do not use the main doors to exit. Please find other doors for the safety of children in the carpool line. 

Release Time

• We will release kids by name at the end of the night. Please listen in the worship center for your crew’s names. Their names with their crew number will be on the screen with a color. We ask that one person from each crew take kids to the back doors of North Campus, where there will be someone to take children to their cars. Once crew leaders hand off kids from the worship center to the next adult, they are to go back to their seats to watch for the rest of the kids.
• Finally, we ask that volunteers PLEASE stay until your whole crew is gone. If you are not designated to take kids to their cars, please stay in the worship center and help with kids crowd control.
• If you registered and you are not on the list below, please reach out to me @jackie@hickoryridgebaptist.org.
• Crew leaders: if other volunteers come into the worship center to retrieve kids, please have them provide their car tag number to match the number on the child's name tag. This is something new, but will ensure kids are going home with the right people.
• All other volunteers, please present your car tag number to a crew leader to verify before picking up.

Crew Leader Specific: 

• The main role of a crew leader is to walk groups of kids around to each station. You follow the schedule and the layouts to know where to go when to go. It is very important not to allow a child to go unattended at any point, even to the restroom. 

• We ask that crew leaders please be in place in the worship center by 6:10 p.m. Please do not enter the worship center prior to 6:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. so we want everyone to be ready to receive kids. This is where you will receive one crew leader bag per crew.

• Please get to know your kids’ names for the week. This is a part of investing. This will also help with release. You will not receive names of those in your crews until DAY 1. 
• Please participate and help rotation leaders. They will need your assistance! There will be a volunteer snack room in Room 113 (grab and go). Please be considerate of your crew and don’t stay too long.
• We will provide a diagram below of how we will sit for opening and it will switch for release time. This allows each group to be toward the front, but also helps preschoolers get out quicker at release.
